Magdalen College Students Evacuated Following Fire

Students accommodation at Oxford University was evacuated at 4 am due to a fire in a bathroom cupboard. The blaze at Magdalen College in St. Cross Road produced large amounts of smoke which rapidly spread through the building, triggering the alarm system.
Students and residents were safely evacuated after firefighters were deployed to the scene. Using thermal imaging cameras, the source of the fire was quickly located and brought under control. Investigations revealed that the cause of the incident was an electrical fault in the heating element of a hot water cylinder.
