Corby Hilton Hotel Fire

A major fire at the weekend at the Hampton by Hilton Hotel in Corby, Northamptonshire required the attendance of more than fifty firefighters. The blaze at the luxury hotel in Princewood Road is believed to have started in a bin in the laundry area, at around 3:50 pm on Saturday 30th January.

It took several hours for the blaze to be brought under control by fire crews with specialist equipment after 120 guests and staff were evacuated from the hotel when the alarms sounded. There were no injuries.

Statement from Fire Brigade

David Harding of Northamptonshire Fire and Rescue Service said “This was a fire that could have had even more seriously tragic consequences. The Northamptonshire Fire Brigade crews did an excellent job in containing the fire, putting out the fire and in thoroughly searching the hotel to ensure all the hotel guests and hotel staff had safely evacuated. I would like to acknowledge personally the outstanding support provided by our local Northamptonshire police and ambulance colleagues throughout the hotel fire incident.”

Arrests made by Police

Following the incident, two boys and a girl were arrested by Northamptonshire Police on suspicion of arson. They have been released pending further enquiries.
